Why not try adding faster and slower to the verses or loud and soft too, for more contrast. While it’s a great song for a big group, it can also come in handy when you’re travelling or stuck in traffic. Little toddlers are often able to grasp the simple and repetitive actions well before they can join in with the words, and for the older ones there’s plenty of opportunity to improvise with all sorts of extra passengers and actions – from Crocodiles to Grannies knitting! There’s a reason why The Wheels on the Bus is on every playgroup’s favourite list the lively actions never fail to get everyone joining in!
